prepare printer for storage? ipf5100

I am leaving my ipf5100 for about 2 months.  Is it better to just leave it on?  Any storage techniques that I should follow?

Probably it will not matter, if my memory serves me correctly that is where canon says switch off opposed to keep the printer on standby.

How's the weather were you live, lightning? even a better reason to unplug the printer. Also when there is nobody around those two month to keep an eye on your belongings.
