Justan, A fine shot, but the color's a bit unbalanced with all that blue in the undersides of those clouds. I downloaded it to try a change. When you bring it up in ACR and touch the darkest underside of one of those clouds you get a more accurate result, though you lose some of the richness in the reds of the city and the streets. But you can fix that with Viveza or with various approaches in Photoshop. But that's a quibble. It's a grand cityscape.

If you right click on the pix and select properties you’ll find a link to the source, which is a bit bigger than the one displayed in the thread. The former LL software would reproduce the original pix when one clicked on it but this version reduces the size of the image.

The location is Seattle, viewed from just a tad SE of the city core.

Nice image, well constructed, great job in dealing with dynamic range.

I suggest you consider cropping on the right side, just to the right of the highway. I think it will
strengthen the impact of your image, and remove the distraction of the bridge.

How can you possibly describe an image as "well constructed" and then suggest removing more than a third of it? Why do you consider the bridge a "distraction"?

Your suggestion would make it a completely different image. Russ would have a fit and (just this once - hi Russ!) I'd be in complete agreement.

Funny, guess where I took my new camera out for a test drive this past week?  And look what showed up on the card!  

My shot was at dawn, and I would have liked a bit more sky interest, but I love how we both found the inclusion of the bridge element to be essential.

At one point I thought of extending the forest canopy to effectively hide the bridge, for the reason you mentioned. But I decided to keep it as I like the scene.

Interesting how two takes from almost the same location can produce such widely differing results. I want to make it to this area during sunrise on an atmospheric rich morning, but for the last several months I've been in one of the blurs of headlight you captured. heading east....
