Slightly OT but anyone shooting tethered to a laptop or an iMac should be keeping an eye on the histogram or remember to turn brightness down. They tend to cheat as they're too bright at times.

Good point; but the few times I shoot tethered to a laptop in the studio I use an extra monitor.
Also, I use the brightness as set during calibration of the MacBook Pro.

The real killer is the viewing angle limitations of laptop screens, I think .
