I have almost talked myself into the 24" Canon. Nice rebates.  I have been researching papers and also trying to find out ink cost per print. Yes, I know it depends on coverage, but I haven't got a clue as to the cost per square foot.

I've calculated my raw cost per square inch for ink at around $0.01015 per square inch. That does not include maintenance tank usage, ink used for cleaning, etc. That's all factored into my markup when I charge people for the job.

Thanks.  I found a web site with ink and paper costs on the 8300.
I'm using 53-90 cents/ sq ft depending on paper.
This was for a large print of colorful flowers, so probably pretty heavy ink coverage..
Don't have a clue on cleaning and other usages.

Also, found an aggressive price on an 8300.  After rebate, it's maybe $700 or so more. But short the 130ml x 12 ink cartridges that Canon is also giving on the 24" promo.

I've read quite a bit about buying the larger unit if one can afford it and can handle the weight/size.
I've owned a 36" and  50" in the early days of large format printing, so I'm thinking of going for the bigger one.

I went from thinking of an 11x17, to having them printed, to the 24" and now maybe the larger unit.
It's addicting.  If I can convince myself that the resale might be 1/2 way decent, that will help.

Or of course, if I can sell my prints it will be all good.

Thanks again everyone for the advice and suggestions.  Now, anybody wanna sell me a winning lottery ticket?

For paper check out my inkjet paper list to help make sense of what's out there. You can use it to filter quickly to find candidates by texture/colour/etc. http://www.danecreekfolios.com/inkjet-paper-list/

Enjoy the 8300 :) I ordered mine today.
