Paul, Did you push the saturation a bit maybe?

Russ,

A fair question, but actually, very little.  I do use curve layers to adjust contrast and routinely tweak mid-tone contrast in Photoshop.

But if you feel the saturation is a bit overcooked, it's a good comment and I'll try another, toned-down, version.

No, it's a single straight exposure, slightly ETTR to get a bit of shadow detail.  I used curves to adjust the contrast and that's probably what you are seeing.

Paul:  I'm a sucker for a good sunset shot, so the clouds and the island in the middle ground definitely appeal.  Still, the rocks in the FL foreground seems artificially bright.  Given that the main light is coming from behind the rocks, I expected more shadow.  It looks to me like you did a reverse 'S' curve, pushing the shadows too high and to my eye it looks false.

Mike,

I did apply a curve to try to show some detail in the left FG, perhaps a touch too much. Thanks for your comment.

Paul, I'm not sure about the saturation. If this looks right to you then it's right. I agree with Mike that a bit more depth in those rocks might be appropriate. But, on balance, it's s fine shot. Since I'm not a landscape guy that's a compliment.
