FS: Panfield 4x5 camera
« on: October 25, 2010, 10:26:45 am »

The Panfield Wide Angle camera was designed by South African Andrew Meintjies as an ultralight monorail specifically for architecture, industry and landscape. It is a sort of Linhof/Sinar hybrid. Movements are shift on the rear, and rise, fall, tilt and swing on the front. There are positive zero detents for all movements, but the spring and ball-bearing for the rise/fall detent are packed separately, probably during a disassembly. I couldn't figure out how to replace them. The bellows are made of neoprene, and will allow the use of lenses from 45mm to 210mm on flat Technika-style boards. An extension back can be fitted, though it would be difficult to find. The rear standard has a Sinar ground glass back. There is no fresnel screen. There is a socket for front mounted Sinar accessories like a jointed rod and bellows shade. It weighs just over 2kg.
