Phase One P40+ vs P45+
« on: October 08, 2010, 06:49:08 pm »

Following on from the other thread posted about the H4D-40 and P40/45 can anyone share their experiences with the differences between the P45 and P40. I'm going down the Phase One route but having a hard time trying to decide which to go for. I've tested the P40 and it is fantastic with the new Dalsa sensor, faster LS flash sync, better camera control from C1 and faster shooting speed but I'm struggling with the 1.3 crop. Just not sure if I would regret it 6 months down the line. So the P45 seem the obvious choice but I'm just worried that this is the elder statesman of the range now (but still expensive) and is using the older sensor/back technology (2006/7 I think) and not sure if will suffer for this and it seems the obvious one for next replacement.

The obvious choice, the P65 is beyond my means at the moment.

So any comments on the look of the different files and shooting differences between the two. It will be used to shoot a wide range of subjects from vehicles and room sets to small tabletop lifestyle product shots. (products, not people)

Cheers, Gareth.
