average hue of selection
« on: September 30, 2010, 01:12:06 pm »

Looking to find the average hue of a small area selection in photoshop CS5.
It looks like filter>blur>average does it.
Is this the best/most accurate way?

You select the eye dropper tool. at the top under the file menu it will ask you to select the sample size. the default is 1x1 pixel but it will go up to as large as 101x101 pixels. Hope that helps.

What does the selection look like? Rectangular, or arbitrary shape? Are there multiple selections needed per image or just one? Does the read out need to be automated for frequent operation or is an occasional use more likely?

Cheers,
