best location bag for RL3D or any "pancake" camera users?
« on: September 28, 2010, 06:23:21 pm »

Hello,

I'm an arca swiss camera user and in July I switched to using their RL3D, it is now my main camera. I shoot architecture and landscape work and most of the time I work out of a tenba attache case, which is very light and big and I wheel it around with all the kit in it.

However, sometimes I shoot in the middle of nowhere and in the past, with my 69 f-line metric, I managed very well with a Lowepro Compu Trekker plus AW. With the RL3D, the shape of this bag doesn't really work well. A lot of bags seem to be geared towards DSLR or MF SLR cameras, and not any of the R-line or Alpa Max type cameras. Lenses are generally pretty small too, as no zooms.

I'm looking a shoulder bags, such as the Tenba Black Label. I've got 5 lenses, P45+, cube, distometer, other bits and bobs and sometimes a laptop. Thing is with this type of bag, the depth helps but then its almost too deep for the rest of the kits setup.

Any experience with similar equipment would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Nick

what about a case…

… with a back pack system...

?

Thanks, I did look at that but it looks quite cumbersome. I don't want to replace my normal tenba case, this needs to be lighter weight bag that can be soft but has the padding.

I trek with a Sinar F2 4x5 using a system from photobackpacker.com, pretty good so far.

What about the Crumpler back packs?  Great padding and can be customised too.
