Elgol Bay Isle of Skye
« on: September 16, 2010, 04:09:34 pm »

Hi here are three images from last weekend when traveling to the Isle of Skye.

The weather had been fairly bad and I wasn't expecting much but while out for a meal in Broadford I seen the weather was starting to break so dashed over Elgol and just had enough time to get these.

Click on images for full sized shots.

hi Duncan, great photos from a great place. Love the second one best.

I once was in Elgol too, but at noon the light was rather harsh[ http://www.fotografiewimvanvelzen.nl/landscape-skye200523.htm ].
Skye is one of my favourite places anyway, esp. the Quirang / The Storr area, and Elgol as well.

Thanks.... it is an amazing place! We spend a lot of time traveling to Scotland for the climbing and Skye has some really great climbing not to mention goo for photography.

Great sky in your photo, love the pattern of the clouds. That honey comb rock is mad stuff, really unusual.

Thanks again

Duncan

A pretty stunning sky! I was in almost exactly the same spot just a few weeks ago and didn't get nearly as lucky with the weather. I got rained on for most of the time I was on the island (clear blue skies the morning I had to leave of course) but I did manage to sneak in a wee shot from Elgol that I was happy with.

Just after taking this I bumped into another photographer as we both headed for the same big collection of rocks by the water's edge. He was a German lad and had the most stunning big Large Format set-up. I've not had camera envy like it in years!
