Pentax 645D DNG
« on: September 13, 2010, 02:30:57 am »

I've posted DNGs, of a nothing subject, straight from the camera. No processing whatsoever. Shot at ISO 200, 800 and 1600. You can find them in the folder "645D" at https://public.me.com/davidmiller.

Many thanks, very interesting! It holds very well with high iso!!! really better then my P45... :)
A very interesting point is also the lens, it has some color aberration and also distortion, but with camera raw 6.2 i can correct it with just one button :)

I'd be happy with that high ISO performance!

Thanks David; first DNG I've seen on the internet.

Wow, I posted some myself years ago, as did many others.

Hello,

Those images look very impressive. My Leaf Aptus 75 images look dreadful at 400ISO. Even in the new ARC6.2.

Cheers

Probably worth noting that the Aptus 75 is not a very comparable sensor (more than 4 years old and different sensor manufacturer) and that the noise (and color, tonal smoothness etc) of Leaf Aptus 75 high-iso files often look much nicer when processed in Capture One or Leaf Capture than in ACR or LightRoom.

Yes, I prefer the detail and the pattern of the grain from Aptus products (not to mention the ability to manipulate the grain pattern), especially from Capture One, even compared to Leaf Capture software.

And worth noting the Aptus 75 is not a micro-lens equipped sensor, which always yields superior noise control at high ISO (in products like H4D-40, H3DII-31, P21+, P30+, Sinar eSprit-65).

deja:  Thanks, I missed the getDPI post.

Graham:  Sorry, I should have been more specific: I meant DNG files from a 645D.

And the new sinar evolution 86L, which has microlenses and is a larger area chip than thoose others, which are the same sized chips. The sinar back is alone at the moment I believe in using these larger micro lensed sensors. I guess Phase One might get in on that game too - anyone fancy a P65+ with micro lenses ?! A clean Iso 6400 using sensor plus anyone.... ?!

Yes please! But with a user-removable IR filter. And with support for exposures up to one hour, not one minute - but I doubt that, since DALSA sensors have yet to prove themselves capable of such long exposures.
