7900 Printed sheet load problem
« on: September 12, 2010, 05:04:35 pm »

I've used the 7600 since 2003 and have just upgraded to the 7900. As part of my printing workflow, I reduce the file to be printed to 4x5 for example and copy and paste it in the upper left corner of an 8.5x11 "Test Print" and print it. I then make the needed tweaks to the large file, reduce it again, copy it and paste it in my Test Print but move the image to an unprinted area of the paper. Eventually I'll have an 8.5x11 filled with small tests. Never had a problem loading the test sheet with printed images into the 7600. The 7900 does not let me do this however. I get a Paper Error - Load Paper Correctly msg. Is there any way to load paper that already has an image printed on it?

Thanks for any help,

Peter

With further testing this morning I'm finding that only Ilford Gallery Pearl will load with an image already printed on it. The other two papers that are not loading are both matte. One is Legion Somerset the other is Epson Double Sided Matte. All three of these papers are flat with no curl.

I've got a report of this into Epson support and I'll post their response when I hear back from them. In the meantime, anyone have a clue as to eliminating this problem?

I've had a similar problem once. Try disabling from the "Printer Setup" menu the "Paper size check" option. This allowed me to print on a cut sheet that the printer could not recognize and gave me the "Error - Load Paper Correctly". But when you will load Roll paper turn "Paper size check" option on again.
I hope this will help.

It may also be the "paper skew" check. So, if one doesn't do it try the other.

dtsiapas and na goodman. I'm on a Mac Power PC OSX 10.5.8. My guess is you two are on PCs because I'm not seeing "Printer Setup" containing the suggestions you have made. I'm using the most recent driver, 6.35.

Thank you! Disabling the paper size check option took care of it. I really appreciate the help.
