How'd you like 30-40 parasitic wasp larvae to emerge out of your body in the morning, and then pupate on your corpse?

So smile, things could be worse

I guess it’s a case of perception.

The life cycle is working perfectly in this scene. All is as it has been for countless generations.

Where is the bad?  ???

Whilst we are getting all wound up about little green guys, my day ain't been that crazy either.

I stuck another two pages into the website earlier today, and just now, when going back to the computer after having watered the flower pots, mine as well as the absent neighbour's (no little greenies lurking there, that I could see), I suddenly find that I can't add any more images to the two pages because the blasted PS programme has begun to close down when I go into the folder that holds the original files - it gives me a notice in Spanish telling me about a grave error, and do I want to send info about it to somebody - probably Adobe - but as the computer isn't internet connected, another fine problem!

This happened before - well something pretty similar did - and it cost me money at the shop as well as lost stuff. I am giving up for tonight and will try to unintstall PS mañana por la mañana. If I stay sane that long. I will then re-install it. Progress, as in Pilgrim.

Green guys, pfuff! What do they know about frustration?

You have my sympathy, Rob.

I know from experience that when software you depend on decides to go on strike, it sometimes feels as if you'd rather have 30-40 parasitic wasp larvae eating you from inside out.

Eric

I think I have managed to resolve the issue.

When this happened the first time, I took the computer to the shop/repairer and as we were looking at it on his workbench, a friend walked into the shop to buy something. The chap's quite up on these things, but he didn't want to say anything in front of the owner of the shop, clearly enough, and he whispered to me: rogue file! Anyway, the repair man messed about and eventually, after a day or two, I got the thing back sans some files and stuff. Unfortunately, the pal has returned to live in England...

So, this morning, instead of taking out PS as I had thought I'd do, I remembered the friend's advice; I went back to the last folder I'd been working with, deleted it, and that seems to have worked - so far!

Perhaps you can advise: what sometimes occurs, as in this case, is that I create (I think) a new folder that I want to be able to open as a separate entity in My Documents, but it sometimes gets hidden within another, and hard to find. This case was the same.

I had already made a folder with the images for the Sales page of my website, and I thought I'd try to put some additional ones up, because how else could anyone be aware of what was going to be available? But, and here's the rub, I didn't want to add the new pix to the same folder because I don't just stick them up in numerical order, I try to make some sort of graphic design/balance in the spread of thumbnails on the page. To do that, before uploading them, requires that I arrange them first on the computer by shifting them here, there and everywhere (oops! just hit the disappearing text again! So it’s back to Word to continue!) but, as there is already quite few in the folder, it gets very confusing about which image has already been uploaded and space to manoeuvre images on the monitor is tight. So, I thought I’d put the new shots into a separate folder in order to cut down the number of shots to juggle.

But, the new folder appeared as a hidden folder within the first one! This was the same as I faced on the first occasion I had serious problems, and that new folder was what had screwed up the system.

So, instead of hoofing out PS I kicked out the new folder. And it seems to have done the trick. Why didn’t the last folder, the one I deleted, appear as a separate entity?

Told you I’m past all this theoretical, invisible stuff!

Rob,

I think you and I are too old to deal with this kind of crap. What you need to do is find some kid, maximum 15-years-old, to do the web stuff for you. Youngsters these days seem genetically modified to be able to understand the workings of Technology, however unintuitive it is.

Good luck!

Fixed it, Eric, and how damn simple: I had been creating the new folder from the existing one, creating a folder within another, instead of going back to My Documents and doing it from there!

Tomorrow I make a CD and then from there I shall upload to the website. (Different computers... muy friggin' complicated!)

P.S. No kids please - I'd rather just stop than have anybody else mess around in MY den. That would make bad days even worse! Ann refused to come in here and clean it - just as well, or whatever was lost would have been her fault; she knew me well.

Hi Eric

Hold off a while longer - I've put the additional stuff onto the CD and should be able to start towards getting it online by tomorrow at least... fingers crossed!
