Eric
I think I have managed to resolve the issue.
When this happened the first time, I took the computer to the shop/repairer and as we were looking at it on his workbench, a friend walked into the shop to buy something. The chap's quite up on these things, but he didn't want to say anything in front of the owner of the shop, clearly enough, and he whispered to me: rogue file! Anyway, the repair man messed about and eventually, after a day or two, I got the thing back sans some files and stuff. Unfortunately, the pal has returned to live in England...
So, this morning, instead of taking out PS as I had thought I'd do, I remembered the friend's advice; I went back to the last folder I'd been working with, deleted it, and that seems to have worked - so far!
Perhaps you can advise: what sometimes occurs, as in this case, is that I create (I think) a new folder that I want to be able to open as a separate entity in My Documents, but it sometimes gets hidden within another, and hard to find. This case was the same.
I had already made a folder with the images for the Sales page of my website, and I thought I'd try to put some additional ones up, because how else could anyone be aware of what was going to be available? But, and here's the rub, I didn't want to add the new pix to the same folder because I don't just stick them up in numerical order, I try to make some sort of graphic design/balance in the spread of thumbnails on the page. To do that, before uploading them, requires that I arrange them first on the computer by shifting them here, there and everywhere (oops! just hit the disappearing text again! So it’s back to Word to continue!) but, as there is already quite few in the folder, it gets very confusing about which image has already been uploaded and space to manoeuvre images on the monitor is tight. So, I thought I’d put the new shots into a separate folder in order to cut down the number of shots to juggle.
But, the new folder appeared as a hidden folder within the first one! This was the same as I faced on the first occasion I had serious problems, and that new folder was what had screwed up the system.
So, instead of hoofing out PS I kicked out the new folder. And it seems to have done the trick. Why didn’t the last folder, the one I deleted, appear as a separate entity?
Told you I’m past all this theoretical, invisible stuff!
