At first look, I thought that it could be a vintage photo but the wetsuit and surfboard are a bit too modern...

That said, I like your photo a lot and my only - small - critic would be that I I don't find the flag and the people behind it too pleasing. It may have been a bit better if the flag didn't partially hide them.

The camera is vintage but it does have a wonderful 'time machine' effect, and yes, I will totally agree about the flag. Here is another I took at the same time-

I much prefer the second.  The subject isn't nearly so aware of being captured.  There's a lack of balance, but I can definitely appreciate the complexity of composition.

True, the shot I had in mind had the flag to the far right with the girl walking in from the left but I fumbled with the camera and missed it, this was the quickly (very) recomposed salvage shot.
