Copy to DNG
« on: September 04, 2010, 04:55:05 am »

Hi.

First of all many thanks for, again, an excellent Lightroom tutorial! Even if I allready know something about the Lightroom application, I never would want to miss your tutorials. Jeff and Michael, thank you!

There's always something new to me in it. Like this time. In one of the video's you talk about importing. And when the Copy to DNG topic is raised, youve confused me. I've always converted the propriety RAW files to DNG using this option while importing. And now I've understood that, in any case, you would keep the RAW files. I thought support in the future for RAW files is uncertain (what if a camera constructor disappears or changes the file structure), while DNG is, even if it is also propriety, more universal.

Would it be better if I don't copy to DNG any more and keep the RAW files (NEF) as they leave the camera?

Thanks.

Marc Verschueren.

PS: sorry for any mistakes to the english language.
