L3 - Will LR update its database if image EXIF changes?

On a recent trip I forgot to set the camera time so the time on all of the images is out by an hour.

My plan is to write a program that will update all of the raw files with the correct time.

If I do this, will LR3 notice that the EXIF has been updated and update its database?
Or is there something else I need to do?
Will "synchronise" do it?

In grid mode select the photos you want to change the time on, go to Metadata, select Edit capture Time.
No need to write any thing. I used this to synchronize two cameras I shot a wedding with.
