How do i move a picture in the film-strip ?!?
« on: September 01, 2010, 05:44:31 am »

Now this is embarrasing!

To move a picture to another position in the film-strip seems
impossible . . . .

I have tried it in the lib module and the dev module - and in grid view.
Yes, i know i have to grab the picture in the "picture,NOT the frame,
but still no luck!

Thanks, T  ;D

In Grid View (in the Library Module) there's a sort option in the toolbar at the bottom (if you don't see the toolbar hit the "T" key). Set the sort
drop-down menu to "User Order" and you should be able to rearrange your photos either in the film strip or in the grid.

By any chance have you selected "Previous Import" in the Catalog section at the upper left? That doesn't allow the "User Order" option in sort.
Try clicking on the appropriate folder in the folders section or you can even put everything in the Quick Collection and you should be able to
get the "User Order" option (after selecting "Quick Collection").

Now that`s sounds scary!  Have you tried that  "Quick Collection"
Trick yourself? I"f you go back from the big Quick collection to your
ordinary folder (Your everyday folder"), will the pictures still reflect
the order from the Quick collection ?

There's a difference between Folders and Collections - I can select photos from a Folder and place them in a collection, such as the Quick Collection
or one that I've created by clicking on the "+" button to the right of the "Collections" label. I can rearrange the order (if I've selected "User Order" from the sort drop down menu) but the photos in the original <Folder> don't reflect those changes. I can delete photos from a Collection but that simply removes them from the Collection; the photos in the original Folder are still there. To go back to your original query if you select the Folder in the
"Folders" panel that contains your photos do you then get the "User Order" option from the sort drop down menu in the Toolbar? If you do then select
"User Order" and you can then click on a photo in the film-strip and (while holding down the mouse button) drag it to the left or to the right to
change its order in the film-strip.
