Paper recommendations
« on: September 01, 2010, 02:25:25 am »

I wanted to get some feedback to what papers people feel are best for use with the Epson Stylus Pro 9900.  MY paper lines will include:

- Premium Photo Paper (Lustre and Gloss)
- Metallic Paper (right now I'm using Lexjet - is there any other metallic paper to try for inkjet printing that compares to the Kodak Endura Metallic?)
- Pearl (need recommendations - I've tried the Hahnemuhle Fine Art Pearl and the Photo rag Pearl but neither really have much pearl appearance)

Also, I live in the Pacific Northwest where there is a BIG push for Green/environmentally friendly paper products.  So if anyone knows of any eco friendly/recycled products that work on the 9900 well please include!

thanks,

Matthew

On the metallic side all the paper options are identical. You can read my review of them at http://www.danecreekfolios.com/blog/2010/7/9/metallic-inkjet-paper-review-part-2-proofline-photo-chrome-a.html. LexJet's version is pretty much the most expensive out there, you can save money by getting the Proofline Photochrome from Shades of Paper.

If you are located in the Seattle area of the Northwest you are welcome to borrow my box of over 100 test prints. I've printed on a long list of the papers out there and you're sure to find one you like. The list of papers is viewable at http://www.danecreekfolios.com/inkjet-paper-list.

Neile,

Thank you for your offer.  I am located in Seattle!  I'll send you a message with contact information so I can set up a time to look through your sample box.

Also,  have you tried the Ilford classic pearl or the smooth pearl?  I've heard good things about Ilford pearl, but I don't know which one!

 thanks,

Matthew

Yup, shoot me a PM and we can sort something out. I can't recall if I've printed on those exact papers but I know I have samples kicking around if I haven't that you can just have to try out.
