Moving folders in LR
« on: August 28, 2010, 12:34:23 pm »

I am doing some LR catalog reorganization, and I have not figured out how to move a folder from within another folder to the top level in the catalog. Help!

Do it from within LR so it "knows" what you've done (drag and drop). If you do this outside the application, it has no idea you did this and you'll get the missing folder ? icon.

I understand this - thanks, but it was not my question. I can drag folders to new locations within other folders, but not to the top level. I suspect I am missing something simple.

Right click the folder and choose Add Parent Folder. You can do it more than once if needed, and Promote Subfolders does the opposite.

Should just be able to drag and drop from one folder to the other. I'm on location, don't have my LR HD handy but it should just be a matter of clicking on the folder you want to move, dragging into another folder (which you may first need to build using the + button). Again, the important part is doing all this from within LR.
