Code for "click here" topic link
« on: August 11, 2010, 08:28:45 am »

How do you insert a link to another topic?

You can go to the other topic, click quote, cut the code, paste it into the new topic and edit out the text of the post... but is there a tidier and quicker way of doing it?

May the link of the small icon just at left of a post be what you're looking for?

This gives you a paste-able link, as below

http://www.luminous-landscape.com/forum/index.php?topic=43167.msg361565#msg361565

...But there was a function that allowed you to insert click-able text (e.g. "click here" or "this topic") that readers can click on without all the additional info.

The quote function is fine for an individual post, but not so good for a topic

OK, then what about using the button to make an
[url=http...]link text[[/url]
statement with it?

Yes, thanks, that works...

If you press the quote button you get the code in the quoted post, so you can see how other users do things- I did that and still could not get it to work... I need another month off before I can do any work!

"Links with descriptions can be made using this format. This is an inline tag and no block level tags can be placed inside, however other inline tags can be if nested correctly, with the exception of the email, ftp, iurl and url tags."
