quick release for pana sonic G1

Hello All,
Does anyone have a good idea for a quick release system for a Panasonic Lumix G1? I have a Gitzo ball head G1177m and I'm trying to find a quality set up for quick release that measures less than 40mm in width. I'd like to leave a quick release plate in place on the camera and be able to change the battery on the G1 without removing that plate. Thanks for any suggestions.

The Really Right Stuff plate for the G1 measures 41mm long and allows access to the battery compartment.

It'll work with most Arca style quick release systems. RRS sells a lever-release platform which can be fitted to various ball heads (I've used it on a Giottos as well as a Bogen video head, and on the RRS BH-55 head.) The lever release plates are available in various sizes. I've had good results with mine.
