Epson 2400 paper problem

My Epson 2400 sometimes just will not take paper. Right now it is working this has happened twice now that it will refuse paper. Does this mean the printer will just fade away. Or do I have a shot of it working out thinking of getting a epson 3800 instead. I do have a large format printer just thinking of getting the epson for a more reliable desktop printer.
