Been fooling around with Lightroom 3 and have come across an issue I cannot figure out.
If I import an image from my desktop in LR3 and then right click to send it to photoshop (PS5) for some pixel editing. I edit and save it when done and it comes back to Lightroom just as it is supposed to.
Now here is the problem I am having. I took about a dozen folders from my hard drive and seperatly imported them naming them by keywords with the same title they had before. I now have all these seperate folders in the keyword list.
To load them for editing in the Develop module I click on the very rh column under (Keyword Lists) and they are instantly shown and I select one to work on. I then right click the image to send to to PS5 do my work and save it back to Lightroom but no image comes back? I get a black screen in LR that says no image selected. What chain did I break? It is probably something to do with the folders as a keyword list but cannot figure it out.

Sending image form LR3 for editing after saving does not come back to LR3?

I think this is a bug in LR3 where the PSD file doesn't have the keyword applied to it. Since you're looking at a filtered list (of keywords) you don't see the file. Look in the actual folder and I bet the file is there.

LR3 also doesn't apply ratings to edited files. I've seen that it's a known bug and I'm sure they'll fix it soon.

Tom,
When I go to the origional folder where this image is stored and re import it, all works perfectly. Something else I just found out. When trying this process again after saving an image from PS5,  nothing comes back to the Lightroom screen. I still have a blackscreen where the file usually pops up. If I go down to the filmstrip and click on the image I had been working on and it says 2. I right click on the image where it says "Go to folder in Library" and the PS5 edited image shows up in the filmstrip. Not sure why it is being stacked in the filmstip but does not show on the screen? Thanks for your reply. I will continue digging as this is not how it is supposed to work.

Writing with an update on this issue.

For me, I'm finding that the photo does come back to lightroom, it does go into the folder from which the original came, and if I was viewing photos by folder all works as expected.

If I was viewing by keyword, the copy does not appear. I can go to the folder in the library and find it. Clicking on the original and the copy, I see in the keyword panel that both have the correct keyword(s) applied, but the changed file still does not appear if I view the photos to which that keyword is applied.

If I unapply and reapply the keyword to the photo, then it does appear when I view the photos by keyword.

Does that help anyone figure things out? It's an ugly workaround so I hope it gets fixed soon.

Thanks,

Jeffrey

Jeffrey,
You hit the nail on the head. Exactly what mine is doing as I have been accessing all my pictures using keywords.
