3880 Profile for Exhibition fiber
« on: August 07, 2010, 03:19:53 pm »

Epson site provides link to Pixel Genius profiles for Exhibition Fiber but none yet for the 3880. Can anyone point me in the direction of a 3880 profile for Exhibition Fiber?
Would the profile for the 2880 work?
Site search did not reveal anything:(
Many thanks in advance.

You found it.
Google-Epson 3880 icc profiles
Epson website comes up
click on professioal imaging picture
Right hand column says icc profiles and choose printer
choose 3880 and profile page comes up.
took all of 10 seconds but I knew where to look.

FWIW, Pixel Genius was not asked to build a profile for the 3880 so that link or suggestion isn't correct.

Why not have a custom profile made for that paper on your printer?  It's inexpensive and much better than the generic profiles.

I this case, for Epson printers, they are very tight in terms of unit variation with their inks and papers. So using a good profile package, sending it a sample from multiple such units with good averaging (throwing out any odd outliers), the canned profiles can be very good. That isn't to say a custom profile could be a tad better but there can be a point of diminishing return here for those that can't afford or can't build custom profiles.

As a side note for us european users with epson traditional photo paper: The canned profile avaible from epson isn't very good and you can't use the exhibition fiber profiles as they result in a slight color shift. I don't know what Epson did wrong with the traditional photo paper profiles but they are not as color correct as i'd like, especially compared to the profiles for example Canson provides or DIY profiles. Also there's a small difference between exhibition fiber and traditional photo paper which becomes obvious when you print with exhibition fiber profiles on traditional photo paper as i mentioned above. I guess the difference between them comes from one being manufactered in the US and the other one in Europe to slightly different specs/chemicals due to EU regulations (i'm just guessing here).
