I would like to share a few images from a recent trip to the awesome Island of Catanduanes in Bicol, Philippines. Critiques and comments are of course very much welcomed.
An undiscovered haven for surfers, beach bums, and of course, coastlascape photographers, Catanduanes (pronounce: Katandwanes) is an island province of the Philippines located in the Bicol Region in Luzon. Its capital is Virac and the province lies to the east of Camarines Sur across Maqueda Channel. On the island, within about an hour from each other, a wide assortment of locations can be reached -- roaring waves, pristine white beaches, rolling hills and mighty water falls. Rains fall often but short, usually lasting for maybe twenty to thirty minutes at a time. And the howling winds... really something to be experienced.
First stop, Puraran Beach.
The Soft Sunset Sidelight1000px image hereIntensity1000px image hereThe intense morning glow of the Puraran sunrise beat down our backs as I struggled to maneuver between the slippery rocks. The beautiful sky was mesmerizing, and it seemed like no matter what direction I pointed the camera, it was difficult to take a bad picture. The light was just perfect. It was intense, overwhelming, yet soothing and peaceful. Really, there's nothing like a beautiful sunrise to start the day.
