Charging a new 3880
« on: July 19, 2010, 02:55:28 pm »

Hi,
I sold my 3800 but kept the ink cartridges except the 2 magenta. I am waiting for a 3880. What would be the best scenario? Will the printer ask for a cartridge change while initiating or is it better to go with the new cartridges?

Thanks

I am not sure, but didn't the inkset change with the 3880?  If so, you probably won't be able to use the 3800's cartridges.

The carts are identical (and interchangeable), with the noted exception of Vivid Magenta and Vivid Light Magenta, which are exclusive to the 3880. Most of the Epson X880 series printers can use inks engineered for the X800 series, with the exception of the new Magentas.

Thanks, I left the Magnetas in the 3800. I will take no chances. I will install the old cartridges having 60% + left in them to initiate the 3880 and replace with the old ones when needed. Just in case, that the 3880 would not ask for a new cartridge in the initializing process.

Thanks
