8x10 printer suggestions
« on: July 11, 2010, 12:28:53 am »

I've got a friend looking for a printer to print 8x10 mat prints. I only know the higher end Epson models. Can someone suggest something please? I'm thinking Epson or Canon would be the more popular manufacturers. I did notice the R800 is no longer offered.

Thanks.

Have you tried the epson store?  Perhaps there is a refurb.  Otherwise HP is closing out their 13" line so you might want to hunt down the 8850.  Epson has (or recently had) a rebate on the 2880 dropping it to about $500 and canon had a rebate on the 9500 mk ii if you bought it with a camera.  So if your friend needs a camera ...

The last time I checked there was no pigment ink 8x10 print on the market. If dye ink is ok then there are a ton of them out there, but I would personally stay away from them unless its for personal use.

If 13x19 is ok then you can get a refurbed r1900 for really cheap on ebay...just be sure to read user feedback before buying.
