Karersee in the Dolomites, Italy
« on: July 09, 2010, 08:59:09 am »

I was in the Dolomites to prepare for my next workshop there in October and got a nice view of the Karersee (Lago di Careze) one evening. This lake can look very different due to the lighting conditions and I'm quite happy with this one.

Comments and critiques are welcome

Justifiably so, I think.

Beautiful light, what a wonderful place. I love the cloud on the top of the mountains and the deep colors on the water.

A very nice capture. The sky and mountains in the right third of the frame are a bit washed out, but overall I like it.

Nicely done - the lighting is great, but the trees on the right have a definite lean to them.  Some distortion correction might be in order.

Thanks Mike, I agree they have a slight lean. Using lens correction in Lightroom 3 does help a little and I added some additional correction. Actually it didn't disturb me much and thanks for pointing this out. It is taken with a Canon 16-35 f/2.8L II on my 1Ds mk3 at 22mm.

Lovely image. I guess in this age of the digital darkroom people think everything is "correctable". I can't see anything washed out, or any leaning. Certainly there are light areas. Nor if I could, would either bother me or stop me from seeing the essence of this beautiful natural image.

Beautiful photo of a beautiful place.

BtW, the Italian spelling is "Lago di Carezza".

Yes, but it's really the Ladins' territory - Cresta de Lac-te-mara or Lec de ergobando. You Italians and Germans are the invaders!

Thanks very much and yes, of course, the spelling is as you indicate. I should checked and not relied on memory as Italian is not a language that I speak

I just want to point out that I'm neither Italian nor German  I'm Danish.

Apologies! In England we're happy enough with Danish or Anglo Saxon place names, but my Ladin dearest wouldn't allow me to let the lake's ownership be misappropriated!
