Arkansas at Thanksgiving?

I don't know how far away from Little Rock you're interested in venturing - but an area that has always interested me is the Queen Wilhelmina State Park near Mena.  Look here:  Queen Wilhelmina  I haven't been there, but its location looks like it could provide some interesting sunrise/sunset shots.  Jim

Don't know if it will hold up or not, but I was just at Petit Jean State Park yesterday and the color is quite good, and the waterfalls are running great - we seldom get both at the same time here. You can see a few images at: http://www.cloudland.net/currentjournal.html

I've also heard there is good color elsewhere in the area, although if it rains all week it may knock it back quite a bit. I'm headed down for a few days myself and will roam around wherever I can find any color. Hope you have a great trip!

Hello all!

Tim--It's funny, I'd already decided to go to Petit Jean State Park because there is a "Mountain Man" Re-enactors Rendezvous there over the Thanksgiving Weekend.  I hope to get some good people shots.  I have your waterfall book, and I'll be checking out some waterfalls also.  I hope the color holds up till late week!

I'll be attending a family event in Little Rock, Arkansas over Thanksgiving.  Anyone want to suggest any good prospects for shooting in that area and time?  I'm hoping at least to find a wildlife refuge with some migratory birds.

Any suggestions would be appreciated--I live next door in Oklahoma, but have seldom ventured into the wilds of Arkansas....

I used to live in Arkansas.  I'm now in Illinois.  The birds, mostly geese, have pretty much moved south from here, so maybe they are in Arkansas by now.
