Cutting issues
« on: July 01, 2010, 05:16:00 pm »

We have a new iPF5100 & are having problems getting a straight cut end to end. This machine has been serviced three times this month with two new cutters installed. Service has been excellent and we are back to square one still not straight. What I mean is the first .75 inch has a slight curve/bow to it. Now this is a big problem for portfolio prints as you want the corners square. Where the cut ends it is square so at the moment we are flipping our prints so we can cut off this section. There must be a few canon users as we had the iPF5000 & it was fine. Any thoughts.

Mine has always done this. I'm pretty sure that's just how it works  Similarly, the bar with the pinwheels sags on the left when I'm printing on roll paper, yet the canon tech folks looked at their in-shop printer, saw the same thing, and say that's just how it is.

Hi Neil
Thanks for the fast reply. The Canon tech called me today & said the same thing from internal lab tests. I have contacted Canon Australia as we worked with them promoting these printers when we lived there. They even replaced both guides on the left & right. We also print on roll paper.
