Edit: I have finally come to my own conclusion about this topic. The Manfrotto 190cxpro3 seems to be just as good as the gitzo gt2541. I do like the twist lock on gitzo - a lot easier and requires less effort to lock and unlock, although I would prefer only 3 columns. I have decided not to replace my current tripod as I don't see any benefit besides the locking mechanism. The frotto is just as solid in my opinion. I did find that the frotto is slightly longer when stored / collapsed, but the gitzo is much taller when fully extended. I guess I can figure that out from the specs but it's nice to see it in person.

You might consider the Really Right Stuff mid-sized 'pod when it is released.  As typical of RRS equipment it is likely to be a winner.
