Pinhole for contax 645
« on: June 22, 2010, 11:56:04 am »

I saw one for $60 once and thought it was too much money. Now, I can't find any of them.
Anyone know where I can get one?

1. Cut the top/bottom off a coke can.
2. Cut a small square of the thin aluminum.
3. Poke a hole in it
4. Drill a hole (e.g. 1 cm circumference) in a Contax body cap
5. Gaffe tape your coke-can-metal-with-hole behind the Contax body cap.
6. Send me your extra $59 (PM me for mailing address)

Optional upgrades:
- take it to your local jeweler and have them use their micro-drills to make a more evenly shaped small hole.
- use a Phase One digital back :-)

Doug,

What the optional very very very expensive P1 digiback has to do with the very very very cheap homemade pinhole?

Anyway, How did you do in Russia? I really enjoyed your works.
When I was in Fine arts in France, I had a swiss teacher who did very similar works (with film), named Balthazar Burkhard.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balthasar_Burkhard

also here:http://www.google.es/images?hl=es&rls=com.microsoft:es:IE-SearchBox&rlz=1I7ACPW_es___ES372&q=balthasar%20burkhard&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi

But there was a serie at that time Balthazar was teaching very very similar to your latest but I can't find it.

Cheers.

You can get one for free: the one that came with your body originally.

Assuming you properly gaffe tape the piece of aluminum there is no reason you can't use the "pinhole" body cap as your standard walk around cap. The hole is very very small and I can't imagine significant amounts of dust going through it, but if you were concerned a small piece of gaffe tape on the front when not using as a pinhole.

What's a few orders of magnitude between friends?

Thanks for the kind I've been lucky enough to have the gallery consult with a few Russian photo websites to link to the voting gallery so that I can get some votes from the Russian market. My website visitor-statistics engine must be very confused why there are suddenly so many visits from .ru domains! The actual exhibition won't be until September 10. Unfortunately due to a schedule conflict I will not be able to attend in person.

I didn't get a body cap when I got my camera second hand.  Though my mom did buy me one for xmas.
Maybe I will mod that with interchangeable pinholes.
