Expression media pro vs. Photomechanics
« on: June 22, 2010, 06:17:01 am »

Just downloaded Expression Media Pro from Pase One's website. Currently I am happily using Photomechanics for all my files, which is a superb program. Is there anything EMP can do better than PM? or are they two completely different beasts?

Currently I pre-cull and sort my images in PM due to its fantastic speed. then they go into Lightroom to do keywording and adjustments. Webpages for client's selection are build in LR. PM is used to FTP images. why would I need EMP? hardly any video files in use, LR can do that now too...

Trying to get two slightly-overlapping programs to work well together is hard enough. Though EM's cataloguing is better than LR's Library in a number of ways, adding a third program into the workflow won't help.

Have you tried the Structured Keywords panel in Photo Mechanic? It is truly wonderful. Makes the job of keywording much easier. It's not obvious how to set it up, IMO, but once you have done so it's very quick and intuitive.
