I came across this chap early in the morning on Lake Baringo last month - any comments or criticism appreciated.

Ed, Can't criticize. It's a fine shot, well presented.

Thanks all - appreciate the comments.

Back-story: as mentioned elsewhere, this is a shot I did not intend to get when I set out that morning, I was on another mission altogether (birdwatching).  Still, the shot was there, I took it, and it turned out pretty much how I pre-visualised it.  Happy me.

I compensated this unwitting model by buying some fish from him, and a while later used the fish to lure the real object of my photo-mission that morning.  Here is model #2 coming in for his breakfast:

So a pretty good morning all in all - got what I wanted and more.

You know that I like your fisherman, now this is a great wildlife shot. Wonderful composition, the curve of the wings and the head framed just so. Spot-on. What species of hawk or eagle is this?

Thanks John, appreciated.

It is an African Fish Eagle (Haliaeetus Vocifer).   A very common bird in these parts, found at almost all freshwater lakes.  Its call is haunting - once heard, never forgotten.

Wonderful shot, Ed!

The eagle looks to me as if he's trying to decide whether to grab your fish or your camera -- which he could then sell to buy many more fish.
