NEW MAC PRO
« on: June 11, 2010, 09:31:36 am »

I was expecting a presentation of the new Mac Pro at WWDC 2010. I am a little disappointed, to say the old version has become a monument. You know, more and more files, the hardware requirements is also increasing. Does anyone know when they can present a new Apple Mac Pro?

Best regards,

This is not a specific rumor or based on any one source, but it's hard for me to imagine a scenario where it's not shipping within the next 3 months.

It may not be the core focus of the company anymore, but they are far past historical refresh time-frames.

My GUESS is that they are preparing a case redesign rather than just a guts-improvement and that has taken them past their standard refresh times. But who knows. It's Apple; despite some recent prominent info leaks (the gizmodo iphone 4 being the prime example) they are still a company with astounding ability to conceal their next move.

Given that even hard-core geeks do not take Mac Pros with them to bars, security will probably hold until Apple is ready to announce new models.

Also, it seems that WWDC was deliberately limited to "iOS" related topics (it is a software oriented conference, isn't it?) so no reason to think that Apple has made all its summer 2010 announcements.

I've seen reports of difficulties in obtaining the new hex core chips which has delayed the Mac pros. I've skipped the last 2 iterations so I've been watching for them as well. They've been rumored since march. Personally I think they're coming pretty soon - everything else has been refreshed.

That's what I heard too and from two different sources but these days, with all the secrecy surrounding the tech sector, it's hard to really know the real story.

Historically I've always kept an eye on the Mac rumours buying guide and found it very reliable:
