BestColor XXL 4.6.3
« on: June 04, 2010, 10:01:49 am »

I was given a dongle for BestColor XXL. But I don't have the actual software, nor did I know which version I had. I sent emails to EFI Global and EFI Japan without even an acknowledgement, forget about a response. Finally, Julian Massi from Spectraflow helped me figure out which version I had (v4.6.3). He gave me a contact address at EFI, but the only response I got when I asked for a copy of the software was "Upgrade!". EFI wouldn't even let me get on to their forum, where I could have asked someone for a copy. But EFI did put me on their marketing email list, without my ever subscribing to it!

So, does anyone have a copy of BestColor 4.6.3 that they could send me, either on a CD or through a service like yousendit?

TIA,
Kumar

I've still got a copy of the BestColor 4.6.3 installer CD and the profiles CD......but before we go any further, what printer do you hope to drive with it? I believe 4.6.3 only supported up to the Epson x600 series (2200, 4000, 7600, 9600, 10600). I'm not positive on that but I don't believe you'll be able to drive anything later than that. Supported spectros was pretty minimal also. I'm sure the X-Rite DTP70 and iSis were not supported. Spectrolino, iCColor, DTP41 and EyeOne Pro were about it.

Also consider you're going to get zero support from EFI or anybody else on this version. And don't expect to run it on a Windows OS newer than XP Pro (The CD states Windows 2000/NT4 if that gives you any idea how old this version is!). (Gee, I sound like a regular "Debbie Downer" don't I?  )

Thanks, Terry. I'm still in the medieval ages. I have a 2200, run XP Pro, and have an EyeOne Pro and a SpectroScan. I'm also known to still use film. So to me you certainly don't sound like Debbie Downer! I've sent you an e-mail.

Cheers,

I have the CD/DVD case, 4.6.1, and the dongle with it. It's marked 2002 so it's getting pretty old now!
