I was testing a HTS on my H4D50 this weekend and for depth of field gains it works really well in the field. I use a kirk L grip with a Really Right Stuff ballhead and found I didn't need to use the supplied tripod spacer.  Mounting the camera for vertical format shots and simply rotating the HTS to give me tilt - great. I am still evaluating the performance using the rise/fall.

Just need to get the price reduced by a third.....

That ash/dust has been falling on our cars and houses in Galway in the last few weeks...you come out to your car after a day at work and find you have to clean the windscreen a little.
A little bit of Iceland, transported to Ireland.

I think you only need the spacer with the Manfrotto (Bogen in the US?) hexagonal plates.
