Copy adjustments to another image?
« on: May 31, 2010, 03:03:15 pm »

What's the easiest way (or any way... I can't find one) to copy ACR adjustments from one image to another?

This is why I hate learning a new app... I'm sure it's staring me right in the face.

In Bridge, Edit > Develop > Copy Camera Raw Settings, and then use the Paste equivalent.

Lightroom's much easier as there similar Sync command lets you choose which adjustments to copy.

Thanks.  I must say it would never have occurred to me to look to Bridge for this.

I don't see a Sync button.  Where is that hiding?  I did find a way to do it in ACR though.  On the little bar that tells you what panel you're in — Basic, Tone Curve etc. — there's a tiny little arrow on the right that takes you to a little dialog where you can select, among other things, "Image Settings," "Camera Raw Defaults," and happy day, "Previous Conversion."  That last one seems to dump the adjustments from, yep, the last conversion.

I think I'm going to tackle LR next.  I've used C1 for years, and I like most of v5.1, but I don't like its noise reduction treatment of high ISO images.  ACR 6.1 and LR3 seem to be far ahead in that respect.

Open multiple images from Bridge and you get a filmstrip in the Camera Raw dialog. The Sync button is at the top left.

I'd recommend you do things the other way round. Lightroom is a much better editing environment for managing and processing multiple images.

http://www.lightroomforums.net/ is a good resource.

As a hint about why you'll find LR better, just get an image into Develop and hit the "Y" key (pressing Y again will clear it).
