What software for cataloging audio files
« on: May 27, 2010, 03:02:05 pm »

Might not be the absolute correct place to post this question but figured there
must be someone here with experience.

What software would be a good choice to archive and catalog audio files
as well as add keyword metadata for future retrieval?

I will be building a personal archive of audio clips to integrate into multimedia pieces, etc
and need a way to simplify this process

Thanks,
Mark

I should also clarify that I would prefer to  embed caption/keyword metadata within the original audio file.
In my particular case the files are .WAV

This info can be added from within Adobe Bridge or Extensis Portfolio, for example,  but what one does is not readable by the other and
thus makes it somewhat non-futureproof in the event I were to use something else down the road.

Before Lightroom came along I was using iView MediaPro for everything, but for a few years now I've had my audio + video files managed by Expression Media and the images by Lightroom.
Now Lightroom has basic management of video files that's in flux, but Expression Media is still the only solution I have for audio.
