Imacon Ixpress on GX680
« on: May 19, 2010, 12:24:51 pm »

hi, is anyone here using a Ixpress on Fuji 680? I have a GX680 III, an Ixpress 384c, an Imacon GX680 adapter and several cables including one with 2.5mm jack on one end and a plug for the fuji remote connector on the other end and one with a 2.5mm jack and a PC contact but I can not get it to work. the shutter won't open or the back does not record. perhaps I need a different or extra cable, some setting I overlooked?
If you are using a similar setup can you explain or take a picture for me? could my cable be for an earlier model GX680 I or II? I have several manuals and documentation but they're not very good

any help would be greatly appreciated!!

thanks,

Serge, do you have this diagram? Won't answer all your questions either, but in case it might help.

perhaps I need a cable that goes in the bottom of the back, in the multipinned connector (AUX?)?

Yes!  That is what you need for the combo to work.

Using that cable alone will allow you to make captures directly from the software.  The oddity with the Fuji, is that if you want to make a capture using the shutter release you need a flash sync cable as well as the first cable.  Fuji did not make the electronic communication two way for some reason.

Did you pick up the camera as a second hand purchase?

Also do you have Fuji GX selected in the software or on the ixpress back?

You need this part...

50300140

Fuji GX680II expose cable.

If you set the back to Flash Sync then you could use the camera as it is now, but only triggering from the shutter release.

thanks David,

I'm trying to find a place to order it from preferably from Europe, B&H has it listed but not in stock.

today I tried it on a GX680 model 1 and with only the pc cable now now I can trigger it from the shutter release (somehow this does not work with the model III). It's only standalone (not tethered) but at least that's something :-)

Serge

No point going to B&H when it is on your doorstep!

Either use Calumet in The Netherlands or Pro Spirit...

Just give them the part number and they can order from us.  It is not the sort of thing anybody would probably keep in stock.
