Is that a Buick I see before me? I always fancied those '53 era things with the huge mouth organ and the holes down the sides.

It's probably something quite else, but it is dusty. ;-)

Rear end isn't right for a Buick, perhaps a 1953 Chevy??

Don't think Chevrolet - they used a 'bow-tie' thing as badge, and not the lousy, cheap golden one of today and those Deadwoooos by any name will smell as - whatever you wish.

Still thinking Buick but with slightly less conviction!

Looks more like the old Plymouth badge...the Olds was very much like it bit it had that circular ring with the continent on it that used to get ripped off...

So where is the 'bow tie' badge? Parts were about badge engineering even then - probably more so then - so lights on their own may not be definitive.

I suspect that the left and right ends of the badge in the pic would reveal the words Buick and Eight respectively if the thing was cleaned up. However, I think it might be older than '53. Michael, you shot it, so what was it? Don't tell me you don't know your model's names! That really would be chauvinism. Anyway, your P65 should allow you to post a huge close-up of the thing and give us nutters peace. There might well be a 'bow tie' hidden in the middle of the central clump of dust!

Not a 53 Buick. Here's photo of 53 Buick rear.
Tail lights are wrong.
It is a 53 Chevy see this photo.

Les

That's pretty convincing proof - well done, and thanks!

Rob C

Edit: how much cuter was the old, colourful, 'bow tie' Chevrolet insignia than the current, bland, golden thing.

As a further clue, my video shows the trunk lift chrome reading 'Power Glide' with the removed insignia in the middle of those two words.
The shape and embossing on the chrome match the Chevy photo of Les' post - but for the words 'Power Glide'

Has anyone looked at the garaged badge closely...it appears to be one of the "winged" badges, not the level horizon trunk badges, also the chevy trunk lid was built over rectanular form...the garaged appears to be the smooth round form...this is driving me nuts...

I've 'processed' this file a bit more to give you rust junkies more to look at    - lots of noise too...
Maybe Michael will post the P65 blowup

Guess you could say they do it better in Cuba! What a sad way for the thing to die - much like in an open coffin.
