A faster card may not make the camera work any faster, but it will surely allow you to copy images off the card faster.

Don't go for 2 gb go for one ,,if you loosed your pic's you loosed less As faster if you get 40 insted of 45 your speed is less...I have Transcend compact flas card 45x and i have
sony 40x is much faster to copy from the camera to the card if you get 45x insted of 40x

I pay for my 1 gb around $200 is very good price for the speed.

I currently own a Nikon Coolpix 5700 and am looking to purchase a 2GB card since the prices are becoming more reasonable. However I see that manufacturers like Lexar and Sandisk offer more than one card, typically an entry level card and another that is rated either in Mb/s or ##X (40X, 80X,etc) format.

Nikon does not wish to comment on this question, other than providing me with a list of low capacity cards (512 & under) and their list of cards they tested when the 5700 came out. I do know that "WA" or write accelerated cards provide no benefit for the 5700. I also know that I am limited to 2GB due to the FAT16 architecture of the file system for this camera, but do not know if the lower speed and lower cost cards hinder the write performance in anyway. I.E. I want the card to be "waiting" on the camera, not the opposite.

Thank you.
