medium format?MAMIYA dm22?
« on: May 13, 2010, 03:43:54 pm »

hello, luminous landscape! i am advanced amateur and have nikon d700 + olympus e-p1. In near future i want to switch to "low-cost" medium format camera MAMIYA dm22 for larger prints. can anyone tell me is it better then top-cameras from nikon and canon, like d3x and 1ds mark III? What would be the best choice for tripod-landscape photo?  i`ve heard about long expouse problems on MAMIYA...is it true?

There is a currently active thread "20 to 30 MP backs or DSLR" which is relevent, but not specific to the Mamiya.

If the near future has some 4 months perspective you might find the Pentax 645D pretty interesting. It should be available quite earlier in Japan, sometime next month.

Another option that is well priced is the wonderful eSprit back from Sinar. DNG's straight out of the back, a great screen and nice scroll wheel interface, and on special at the moment! Just add a camera body that is compatible, currently a Hassy H or Mamiya 645, among others. 31mpx 33 x 44 chip btw.

guite good review, but i`d like to find direct comparison of top 35mm cameras vs low-budget medium format ones..i`ve search hard, but it seems that nobody interested in this topic at all...and this is quite strange..

First reaction on visiting that link - wow, competitive price for a back based on the 31 MP Kodak KAF31600CE !

But then I realized that it didn't include the pricey camera adapter plate...or VAT. Both of which will take the price north of €10k, sadly.

My local dealer is selling the eSprit back with an adapter thrown in, so maybe they all are. I'd check before you jump to any conclusions.
