180mm Digitar?

I need a 180mm for the P65+.  Schneider?  Rodenstock?  Any opinions?  I'd probably skip the HR to gain image circle.

Thx!

chris,

what about the APO-Symmar 5.6 180mm? HUGE I.C. too, lie 277mm

its technically a film-lens, but since its on ALPA's site, I'd assume is good enough for them to warrant it for their "standards" .

cheers,

EDIT:

here's another one,

Rodenstock APO-Sironar Digital 180mm/5.6

Actually, I have that Rodenstock, and it was my favorite lens on Chrome, but just not that sharp in comparison to my Apo-Sironar Digi 135mm.

i have the apo sironar digital 180 (not the HR), bought for cheap... stock sale from a pro shop...
didn't used much for now, but i was pleased with the result !

But i think that lens is discontinued !

I have heard good things about the schneider 210.

PS : i've also heard that nikon W lenses 150, and 180 works much better than apo-symmar equivalent for digital !

I've test an apo symmar 120 vs my apo sironar digital 90 for inf. focus... the 90 was much better... but longer is the lens, less dramatic is the difference !

By the way, congratulation for the RM3D !

Hi Chris, it looks like you discovered the "telephoto crisis" in digital LF.  You will not find anything over 120/135 that has the "bite" of the shorter focal lengths currently available.  Rodenstock is currently consolidating their lenses into a single W line.  Let's hope they improve their longer focal length lenses.

Hi Chris

I'm using the Schneider APO-Digitar 5,6/180mm with great success: It DOES have the same qualities as my other lenses on the ALPA SWA (and P45+), the Rodenstock 35mm HR, 60mm HR and 100mm HR.
Still, focussing has to be very precise and mind any vibrations...
More information about all the lenses can be found on their homepage: www.alpa.ch

Good luck, Jost
