Nikon Coolscan 9000ED & Win7 (64bit)
« on: May 02, 2010, 08:40:03 am »

I don't know, if there is already a thread on this topic.

Unfortunately, Nikon is not willing to provide any customer service to owners of Nikon scanners and to update its Scan software and drivers for Win7. Statement on Nikon's web page is simply

"The use of Nikon Scan software with Windows 7 (any version), or Mac OS 10.5.x or later,  or any 64- bit operating system (including 64-bit, 32-bit or Compatibility mode) is not supported.
We suggest trying a third party software option such as Vuescan from Hamrick.com or Silverfast software."

As I actually don't really like the suggested solutions and as I am not really in the mood to spend a couple of 100 bucks on new scan software, does any of you have experience with any other scan software that would work with Nikon scanners?

Many thanks.

Cheers,

Ulf

I have a Nikon 9000 scanner working on a Windows 7 Professional 64 bit PC using Nikon Scan 4.0.3.

I used the firewire card that shipped with the Nikon 9000, had to set Windows 7 to automatically update before it would install a driver for the firewire card - I had it set to download updates and let me decide, and it would not install a driver for the firewire card.

I followed the instructions on this site to get a 64 bit driver for the scanner, and installed Nikon Scan as instructed on this site.

Everything now works.  Good luck.

Good to hear it worked for you.  I don't understand why Nikon takes so long to address these issues.
