Not ridiculous at all, and I applaud his fortitude in swimming against the stream.

I especially encourage anyone with a Canon 85mm f/1.2L and/or Canon 35mm f/1.4L to offload their lenses on the For Sale subforum before their obsolescence. Then my prime lens collection will be complete, and I can... uhhh.. use them as fishing net weights.

I think the 5D II is going to become obsolete way first. So who wants to give me one for my collection of historic cameras?

"Consider the current state of the art in system DSLRs: 24-plus megapixels on 24x36mm sensors, ISOs higher than 100,000"

How have I been squeaking by with only ISO 99,000?  I need to upgrade before the obsolescence sets in.

Sorry, not a chance. My wife's using mine in the kitchen -- laid on its back with the lens removed, it makes a swell holder for serving softboiled eggs. Likewise no-can-have my 14mm f/2.8 L II USM -- that flower-petal lens shade makes it just too valuable as a cookie cutter.

Mmm-MM! I smell chocolate chips a-bakin'.
