The Big Stopper does the Yarra Valley
« on: April 26, 2010, 05:44:18 am »

I had an opportunity today to get out and try the new LEE Big Stopper 10 stop ND Filter - I have a full write up on it on my BLOG In short though, its a wonderful bit of kit to have available in the field.

This was taken this morning about an hour and a half after sunrise. I am just not sure which crop I prefer - I think I am leaning toward the square as it removes and simplifies; but I would welcome feedback and comments as always.

I like the square crop best but the wider crop also has its merit. The clouds and the symmetry give a strong sense of dynamism. The shape of the land (and its reflection) makes me think to a dagger.

I'm for the square crop as well. That expansive sky adds a lot, and it feels cramped in the horizontal one.

Nice shot!

Initially, with the small thumbnails, I found the landscape crop version very nice but when I opened the large images, there was no question that the square crop was the best.

Tremendous mirror-symmetry and pure blue.

I too favour the square crop, but they both work well.

Super work.
