The Safari

An editorial fashion shoot for a safari spring/summer trend. On some a AB800 strobe in a 22" beauty dish was used. I used a Canon 5D MKII with a 50mm lens on the shoot.

Ryan, Thanks for posting these. I must as always be honest with my opinion and say that these just don't work for me. The background is just ugly, and the colours and the shapes that the shadows create just don't seem to work at all. I tried to eliminate colour and make the background less evident in one of the images below. I think you have forgotten that it is a fashion photo shoot and that the model is supposed to be the highlight. I have tried to make the model the focus in the editing of your image below as an illustration of what I mean.

I know you were trying to also portray the harsh light of the 'safari', but the models look uncomfortable squinting into the sun and they just don't look comfortable at all. Having the tree grow ot of the models head in pic 5 just looks weird to me.
