Capture One Styles
« on: April 13, 2010, 09:10:59 am »

Below is an except from our recent blog post containing a free package of Styles for Capture One. Please give us some feedback using the poll above.

Capture Integration Capture One Styles

"One of Capture One’s most powerful features is the styles menu. However, it often gets overlooked because the variety and usefulness of the included styles is somewhat limited, and the method of creating your own style is easy, but not very intuitive or discoverable.

We hate to see our users missing out on powerful features we think they would benefit from, so we are working on a set of styles under our own Capture Integration brand. They will be free and offered without limitations / watermarking etc, though you do need to enter your email address to receive the download link.

Consider this our first pass at an ongoing process. We would love feedback (send to doug@captureintegration.com) about these styles and what sorts of styles you would find useful in a future version of our styles package."

Thanks Peter. This is really meant as a proof of concept to see what interest is out there and where it lies. It's also meant as a catalyst to get users rolling on using and creating their own styles. So I hope you'll have a chance to try them out and provide some feedback.

can you imitate all of the SilkyPix styles (I'd assume no copyright issues w/ that) ? that 'd be great...

hi doug,
thanks a lot for this input, reminds me again, that I should finally get used to the workflow of capture one. your styles help a lot to see, what effect you get with the right changes. would love to see some vintage look colour corrections and gradings and also more toned b&w.

best regards,
marcel

At the Capture Integration site I see MAC download instructions only. Are these MAC only usable?

LOL @ 'Umpa Lumpa'

(I can see a lot of commercial uses for that one   )

Styles are available in Capture One Pro on either mac or PC but if you make them on one they do not transport to the other platform (i.e. you can share styles made on mac with other macs or styles made on a PC with other PCs but not across platforms).

Since the vast majority of our customers are on mac I made this first batch only on the mac. If we get a strong enough response we may make a release on the PC as well. In the meanwhile you can always make your own! :-)

I named this one after playing around with a portrait, but found it can create worthwhile (if exotic "fx" based extreme color) with some non-foliage landscapes.

Of the four types of styles included in this first release the "FX" styles are, for sure, less likely to have commercial applications. As a proof of concept I did want to show a little of the extreme looks you can produce with styles. Most of my personal styles I've been developing are barely noticeable (subtle skin tone changes, or slight color response modifications).

It's OK Doug, it was only a little poke. I think your set of styles are great, and certainly allow people to see what you can achieve, so well done.
