Running Windows &? Wanna answer some ???'S
« on: April 09, 2010, 11:50:09 pm »

Folks,

I have Vista but not Windows 7 (32/64 bit) installed and running. So, while double checking very specific install locations for Photoshop CS4/5 and Windows 7, I can't determine the exact directory path...would somebody running Win 7 32/64 bit be willing to check the relevant directory paths? If so, email me at schewe @ mac dot com...

Thanks, Jeff Schewe

P.S. This will be for inclusion in Camera Raw 6 in Photoshop CS5...

Wow, I can't believe that we are helping Jeff (who helps us so much of the time)!  In addition to what is posted above, Win7 and Vista store personal settings in a separate place (this holds for Lightroom as well).

These would be in (this is for Win7 64 bit as that's what I run):
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe Photoshop CS4
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\CameraRaw

The CameraRaw directory would contain all of the users personal camera profiles (for me they are made with the X-Rite Passport).  Since I use Lightroom 99% of the time, I really don't have any personal Photoshop settings (just checked).

Hope this helps and I would also like to thank you for the revised version of Bruce Fraser's Image Sharpening book; I've found it invaluable.

Just to add to the above posts, while the default location is c:\users\username that can be moved to other locations via system policy. A reliable way to get to the correct folder every time is to use %appdata%\Adobe. If you put that into the text entry box on the Start menu, or into the address bar of Windows Explorer, it will always take you to the right location.

It looks like there's an Adobe missing from the above paths. On my Win7 64-bit install the paths are:

%appdata%\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4
%appdata%\Adobe\CameraRaw

Just want to make sure you get it right in your book, Jeff
